From 9 – 13 December 2019 the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, together with the University of Ferrara and the Sustainability Environmental Economics Studies (SEEDS) and the CEntre for Research on Circular economy, Innovation and SMEs (CERCIS) is organizing a workshop on Circular Economy.
Interested candidates from Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia still have the opportunity to apply for self-funded places in the workshop.
In November, UNIDO organizes training on Gender and Industrial Development in cooperation with ITPO Bahrain and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and the Arab International Center for Entrepreneurship & Investment.
The course targets government officials from the Middle East and North Africa engaged in the design and implementation of industrial policies, gender focal points of the relevant national ministries (e.g. industry, economy, labour and trade), regional organizations and representatives of organizations focusing on the economic empowerment of women.
From 11 – 13 June 2019, UNIDO organized an introduction workshop on basic methodology of the Enhancing the Quality of Industrial Policy (EQuIP) toolkit in Tbilisi, Georgia. The project was funded by the German Development Cooperation, GIZ.
The CAREC Institute has partnered with UNIDO to deliver a workshop on economic diversification in the CAREC region. It aimed at deepening the understanding of characteristics of resource dependent economies, importance of industrial development strategies, particularly export oriented industries, to achieve economic diversification, and enhance capacity of CAREC countries to improve their competitiveness.
The third edition of the Industrial Policy for Policy Makers (IPPM) training programme will be taking place in September 2019, and will be held alongside the annual African Programme on Rethinking Development Economics (APORDE). This year’s theme for IPPM is: Challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution for Industrial Development.
